Bakery & Cake Packaging: Prepare Your Product Brief
Eastpkg® combines production and supply chain management for B2B packaging projects. For bakery packaging, start with the cake, pastry or dessert as it will be packed, including its board, liner or existing wrapping. Review the box, insert and carrying arrangement together.
Describe the filling and delivery process as well as the desired presentation. Confirm the proposed construction and supporting material documents for the intended use; a decorative box image alone does not establish food-contact suitability or freshness performance.
Specify the baked product dimensions, weight, existing wrapping and delivery route. Explain whether the proposed pack touches food directly, and request documentation for the relevant construction and destination market.

Options & Materials
Review the complete bakery packaging construction
Confirm material, lining, printing and handling requirements against the actual food and delivery conditions.
Surface finishes and intended use

Mark the proposed decorative areas on the artwork and identify which surfaces may contact food. Review the paper, coating, adhesive and finish together. Confirm the documents and sample checks needed for the intended application before approving a decorative treatment.
Printing and artwork preparation

Provide logos, color references and the panel layout. Identify food-contact surfaces and any inner wrapping or liner. Confirm the proposed printing process and review the final artwork and sample against the agreed specification.
Different Paperboard Options for Packaging

Specify the proposed board, surface treatment and any liner. Share whether the food is dry, fatty, moist or otherwise requires particular assessment, together with the intended contact time and temperature. Request relevant material documentation; a paper name or appearance is not sufficient evidence of suitability.
Corrugated outer packaging

Discuss the outer shipping pack separately from the presentation box. Provide packed weight, box quantities and the intended route. Agree the construction and handling checks with representative packed goods, including any agreed stacking requirements.
Rigid gift box construction

If a rigid presentation box is proposed, define the food wrapping or primary container inside it. Review the lid clearance, product support and opening. Confirm the material specification and any food-contact requirements for the actual arrangement.
Specialty paper and wrap selection

Compare the intended color, texture and decorative effect on a physical sample. Confirm the wrap, coating and adhesive details. Any recycled-content, certification or disposal claim needs evidence for the selected construction and destination market.
Tray, support and insert planning

Include the cake board, cups, liners or existing wrapping in the dimensions. Review support, spacing and removal with representative products. Confirm the insert material and intended food-contact conditions; agree any handling and presentation checks before production.
What to check before choosing bakery packaging
- Fit and clearance: Measure the packed product, including decorations, cake board or liner. Check lid and side clearance on a physical sample.
- Handling: Describe how the pack is carried, stacked and delivered. Agree appropriate checks with representative filled packs.
- Freshness requirements: State the intended holding time and conditions. Any claimed barrier or shelf-life performance needs evidence for the food and complete packaging system.

- Loading and removal: Review how staff pack the food and how the customer removes it without disrupting the presentation.
- Brand artwork: Provide the logo, color references and any seasonal versions. Keep the approved artwork version with the sample reference.
- Range planning: List product sizes and quantities. Review shared box formats or different inserts where practical, without assuming one size fits every dessert.
Material and disposal claims Request a breakdown of board, window, lining, coating, adhesive and any insert. Check the evidence for specific claims and the disposal conditions in the destination market. Paper-based appearance alone does not establish recyclability or biodegradability.
