Plan a Two-Piece Lid and Base

A lift-off lid box has a separate lid and base. The lid is removed completely to reach the contents. The amount of overlap, the opening clearance and the product support should be specified together.

Prepare Dimensions and Construction Details

Measure the product with its accessories and primary pack. State the required internal dimensions and product weight. Discuss the lid depth, base height and whether the lid should cover all or part of the base. A reference image can help communicate proportions, but use an agreed drawing to define dimensions.

Review the Physical Sample

Check that the lid lifts without excessive force, sits evenly and does not catch on the wrap or insert. Review the corners, visible edges and any pattern alignment between the lid and base. Test product removal with the intended item rather than checking an empty box alone.

Confirm Materials and Artwork

Request the specification for the board, wrap, coatings, adhesives and any insert or window. Material certifications and environmental statements need documents relevant to the proposed pack; they cannot be established from an image or a paper appearance.

Provide the artwork version, color references and marked areas for proposed finishes. Agree on the print and finish sample needed for approval, including small text and alignment at the final size.

Prepare the Quotation Brief

Send the product dimensions, pack quantity, destination, artwork status and required date. Ask for the project-specific sample scope, minimum order, production schedule, packing method and cost components. Confirm these before placing an order.
