Description
Specify the gold foil before approving the box
A gold foil perfume box combines the bottle presentation with a metallic detail on the packaging. For a useful quotation, identify the areas to be foiled, the intended gold tone and the paper or wrap finish. A photograph alone does not define the finished specification.
Hot stamping transfers a decorative layer with heat and pressure. The result depends on the foil, substrate and artwork working together. Review the proposed combination on a physical sample before approving production.
Prepare artwork for the metallic areas
- Supply editable vector artwork and identify the foil areas separately from printed graphics.
- Mark logos, lettering, borders and any fine details that need particular attention.
- Provide a physical foil reference where available. A screen image is useful for direction, but cannot establish the final metallic shade or reflection.
- Ask the production team to review line widths, gaps and registration for the selected surface. Agree any artwork adjustments before tooling.
Choose the surface and construction together
Compare the proposed foil on the actual wrap or paper, including any coating or lamination. Check coverage, edge definition and the appearance at different viewing angles. If embossing or debossing is part of the brief, review how it aligns with the foil on the sample.
The closure and insert need a separate specification. State whether the project calls for a lift-off lid, drawer, hinged lid or another opening style; confirm which construction is available for the project. Do not treat a decorative reference as confirmation of embedded magnets or a particular insert material.
Fit the bottle, cap and set contents
Send the filled bottle dimensions, cap dimensions and weight, plus the number of items in each box. Identify any travel-size bottle, booklet or accessory that shares the insert. Review loading, removal, clearances and the closed box with representative contents.
Separate the presentation box from the shipping pack. Agree handling and transport checks for the intended route; a rigid appearance or a close-fitting insert alone does not establish protection in transit.
Approve a sample with a written checklist
- Confirm the foil reference, artwork version and placement.
- Inspect small text, borders, solid areas and alignment with printed or raised details.
- Check the wrap, corners, closure and insert against the approved specification.
- Record acceptable appearance and any agreed handling checks. Keep the approved sample as the reference for the order.
Material information and order planning
Request the material breakdown for the board, wrap, foil finish, adhesive and insert. Any recycled-content or certification claim needs documents for the selected materials and relevant supply chain. Assess disposal guidance for the complete packaging in its destination market.
Confirm the minimum order quantity, tooling and sample costs, production schedule and shipping arrangements in the quotation. Keep sample approval, production and freight dates separate when discussing a launch deadline.
