Define What the Display Needs to Show

Provide the actual product and primary-pack dimensions and weight. Identify the viewing direction, visible product information and whether the pack needs to stand, hang or sit within another display. Confirm the intended structure rather than inferring it from a generic image.

Discuss the insert, product retention, opening and removal. Agree checks for assembly and the relevant handling conditions; a display photograph does not establish performance.

List the Window and Box Components

Record the board, wrap, printed layers, coating, adhesive, transparent component and insert separately. State whether the opening is uncovered, film-covered or part of another construction. Identify where components are permanently bonded or can be separated.

Ask for documents that match the actual proposed materials. A material description such as PET, recycled PET or paperboard is not a complete disposal assessment.

Check Claims for the Intended Destination

For recycled content, define the component, percentage and basis. For certification, confirm the relevant holder, current scope, chain of custody and claim permission. These requirements are separate from whether the finished pack can be collected, sorted and reprocessed in the destination.

Compostability and biodegradability require their own evidence and conditions. A paper box with a clear component must not be described as universally recyclable or biodegradable on appearance alone.

Review Separation and Function with a Sample

If removal is part of the intended disposal instructions, check the steps on a representative sample and record what remains bonded. Separability does not by itself establish local recycling acceptance.

Check product fit, display stability, viewing area, assembly, opening and removal against agreed criteria. Record any differences between sample and production construction, and identify separate protection or contact assessments where needed.
